Description

Eyebrows create the border line between forehead and eyes and have a significant influence on face expression.

Saggy eyebrows make a person look unhappy, tired, sad and angry.

Raising the eyebrow improve self-image and create a friendlier, happier look. There are several approaches for performing a brow lift.

Brow Lift (Eyebrow Lift)

Facts

  • Local or General anesthesia
  • Outpatient procedure
  • Procedure takes 60 min
  • Recovery after 1 - 2 weeks

Brow lift (also browplasty, forehead lift) is a procedure performed as an outpatient procedure.

Various methods are used:

  • Open Brow-lift - called classical brow-lift done from a long incision at the top of the head or at the hairline (for hiding a scar) and elevating the brow through removing the excess loose tissues and skin.
  • Endoscopic Brow-lift - the most common method in the USA. Brow-lift is done after inserting an endoscope (thin tube with video-camera) through several small incisions, elevating the loose tissue and fixing the tissue with stiches.
  • Limited Incision Technique - elevating the eyebrows through small incisions on the lateral side of front (scar hidden in hair area of temples). This procedure enables only a minor correction of the drooping eyebrows.
  • Direct Incision - incision just above the eyebrows with excision of a small part of skin. The disadvantage is a visible scar above the eyebrow.
  • Thread lift - a temporary procedure using threads for lifting various parts of the body.

The choice of the most suitable operation depends on the patient's decision, her condition and the condition of the tissue on the forehead and eyebrows.

The operation is usually performed in a local anesthesia combined with sedation, or general anesthesia.

Recovery and healing takes approximately 1 - 2 weeks.

Temporary bruising, swelling and numbness can occur after the operation and subside within 4 days. It is recommended to sleep on your back with your head elevated (use 1 more pillow) for seven days.

Showering is allowed after 2 - 3 days or later.
