Description

The neck area is subject to aging just like other parts of the body. A skin flap (double chin) occurs, fat is gradually lost and lines of skin wrinkles appear. The dimple above the throat and the dimples above the clavicles deepen.

The chin and neck can be aesthetically sculpted using several options:

  • chin correction and platysmaplasty
  • chin augmentation
  • thread chin lifting
Jaw Surgery and Genioplasty

Facts

  • General or local anesthesia
  • One-day procedure
  • Procedure takes about 60 minutes
  • covery depends on the type of procedure

Chin correction and platysmaplasty

  • The neck is corrected as part of a facelift, during which the preparation continues towards the neck and the weakened muscle in the neck area (musculus platysma – hence platysmaplasty) is lifted.
  • The double chin region is most commonly improved using liposuction, ultrasound, or injection lipolysis.

Chin modeling (chin augmentation)

  • Plastic correction of the chin also makes it possible to accentuate the chin profile using your own fat, filling with hyaluronic acid, or by inserting implants, while silicone implants are currently the most preferred.
  • Chin augmentation also allows the chin profile to be enhanced by the use of own fat, hyaluronic acid fillers or the insertion of implants (with silicone implants being currently the most preferred).

Thread chin lifting

  • Chin thread lifting is a part of neck thread lifting, in which the skin is lifted in the desired direction with the help of threads inserted into the deeper layer of the skin.

A direct surgical approach (under general anesthesia) is performed in the submental groove so that the scar is hidden under the front edge of the chin. The fat forming the double chin is removed and the platysma muscle is sutured.

After the surgery a "tight neck" feeling may persist for about 10 days.

The disadvantage of this type of procedure is the presence of a scar in the neck area, the advantage is better access and a longer-lasting effect.

If there are already scars on the neck (for example after thyroid operations), it is also possible to use these scars to make the neck more accessible. Men especially prefer the removal of a double chin, while the scar can be hidden by the growth of beard and moustache, so a direct approach is more common than in women.

The shape of the chin can now be successfully sculptured by adding volume.

The reshaping can be done with your own fat (lipotransfer or lipografting), in which the fat is taken as in liposuction, then after processing it is injected into the desired areas.

Adding volume by using hyaluronic acid fillers is the optimal solution for temporary volume enhancement (hyaluronic acid is absorbed over time), the effect lasts about 1 year.

Implant insertion is suitable for permanent improvement of the chin profile, suitable for example for men.

Thread lifting uses the application of threads using single stiches with a fine needle. The skin of the chin can thus be stretched (lifting) and anchored into firmer structures.

This makes it possible to soften signs of sagging skin on the chin. The effect lasts 1 - 2 years as the threads are absorbed.
